Failed to credit payment and charged late fees

I was charged a late fee on my statement due to a payment that was never credited to my account. When I called, I was given run around to get the fee taken off.

The representative just kept telling me they need a payment before they can *** the late fee. I already sent the payment and they failed to apply it. I requested to talk to a supervisor, which I was then transferred. I stated that I want to close my account due to a late fee I am being wrongfully charged.

That finally got the late fee removed. Unfortunately, that still won't remove it from my credit report. The next day, I get a notice of an important message affecting my account and I need to sign in to see it. I go to the website and sign in, and the website is not working properly, preventing me from seeing the message.

I try to contact them, which requires me to select a topic. The only option is to request a copy of the cardholder agreement, which I do not want to do. I click it anyway, and it fills in a default message requesting the agreement that can't be changed. I am given the run around on the phone, so I have no way to contact them.

I have been a customer for 5 /12 years without any problems until now.

I am very close to just closing the account. It will just be one less card taking up space in my wallet

I have had enough , citimortgage put me through the same BS as the rest of you through the trial modification period and then I was sent a loan mod agreement telling me I was in the hamp program
they waived transaction charges and set me up on auto payments
7 months later they switched my signed , notarized document, back dated the new one and said I my new amount was doyble what the first agreement was
I am starting a class action suit against them. Found a very capable attorney that is quite familiar with unlawful truth in lending practicethat citimortgage is using and is willing to take the case on a contingency basis there will be no out of pocket expenses to you to talk to them

If you are interested in joining this class suit with me contact me at the email below
truley I feel the pain we are all in

Please advise re: status of class action suit, or potential for filing. I just went through a re-fi application with Citimortgage in which I was advised that appraised value would have to be $X.

Based on pre-approval of credit, income, assets, etc., I paid the app fee of $475.50, only to then be told that the appraised value would have to be $X. + $20,000.

Appraisal came in intentionally low, and in spite of my appeal, providing more applicable comps, Citicorp would not adjust appraised value, and denied loan.

I received my app fee (refund from American Express based on my dispute of the charge), but am interested in pursuing action against Citimortgage for intentional misrepresentation of material facts which resulted in my losing an opportunity to obtain refinancing with a legitimate lender while rates were at their lowest. Please advise if this is still ongoing, and if there is room "on the bus" for one more.

Ok People

The game is starting to get tough and we are going to win

Please let me know if any of you filed with the independent foreclosure review board and if you have recieved anything more than $1000.00.

I am tlking to the DOJ and will be forwarding them all the information that I can compile ......I will not let these bastards beat us. I as many of you feel cheated , lied to, and the banks wanton diregard for the laws the POTUS has put in place. I know it seems like an endless battle but I will not rest until they are held accountable.

Please send very concise notes to me times dates etc ...whom you were speaking with any confirmation numbers also

They are a miserable lender and I will be passing all these documents to the FTC and just sent off letter to the DOJ.

Will be contacting the senate banking commission & congressional banking oversight committee. I know its hard but hang in there ....I feel for each and everyone of you

Contact your representatives tell them your problem shouldnt be hard if you scan ev erything into your computer. It brings me to tears to hear so many of your horror stories but am working to get the best counsel possible that will take the case on a contingency basis.

Again if you filed with rust consulting and received a check please contact me and let me know if any of you have received that supposed 125,000 dollars or gotten your home free and clear

I AM WORKING DILIGENTLY FOR ALL OF US AGAINST THIS UNSRUPULOUS BANK!

I sued Citi and WON because of deceptive practices. Also, I received $3000 from the independent foreclosure review board.

BTW: Not sure why people would send their info to you.

If there is a class action suit, the attorney would conduct the research and contact people. Doesn't make sense.

Guest

Has this class action ever been started? That is, does a lawyer have the case or is everyone merely wasting time posting all of the awful things that they've gone through?

Here's my story: I have $250k of equity in my home. For the first time in 20 years, I was without work last year and am now 3 months behind. I resumed working in Nov 2012 and can once again make the payments but cannot pay the 3 months I'm behind. Citi claims I don't qualify for ANY of their programs, not a loan modification, none of the federal programs, nothing.

Now they sent a letter stating that unless I bring the mortgage current (I have never let it go beyond 90 days delinquent), that they will ask that the ENTIRE loan ($195k) be paid in full. They need to be sued. They need to be brought before congress and explain why they couldn't come up with anything better than the one thing they did offer me, which is a loan repayment program, stretching $10,700 out over 6 months. I can't do it.

I owe my sister $14k that I borrowed from her last year and am now repaying at $1000/month.

That's the best I can do.

Sir,

It takes time and voices and very clear and concise notes

( which I am compiling ) to bring to attorneys office

send to the OCC, send to the FTC, write to the congressional oversight committe, I am doing all of this myself because I have the time ...I am on total disability and am willing to devote my time for the sake of all of our causes. Just as citi makes us all jump through hoops it will take me sometime to get through the bureaucratic BS as all of us are doing, I am making headway and am getting replies from the DOJ, OCC, and my senator and congresswoman. So unless you have something positive to add to all of our dilemas , why bother posting? OK!

Sincerely,

James

I am also interested. Same thing happening here.

Started loan modification in April 2012. I was continuously sending in paperwork. Sometimes 3 times a month, with the same pay stubs, bills, etc that they already asked for. They told me to stop making payments, or at least only a small payment because it would look better to the bank, thinking I really cant afford the original payment.

They told me by not making the payment, I couldn't be foreclosed on and that they would just take the back payments and prorate them into the my new payment determined from the load mod...7 months later of me calling them 4-6 times a month to see if it was finished yet, I get a foreclosure notice at my door. Call Citi, they tell me my case has been closed because I failed to send in paperwork...!!! No notice, warning, phone call or piece of mail telling me they even needed anything from me.

Sent in the paperwork, and they re-opened the case but they came back a month later and tell me I don't qualify, and I owe back payments plus legal and other fees to redeem or face foreclosure. So yeah I'm in, let us all know how to get started.

I was in your shoes as well in 2009-11, and ended up in bankruptcy. No matter how hard I tried to give them everything they needed to "help me" they lost it or claimed they did not receive it.

I have fax paperwork that says it was received at the fax number they provided. We need to be vindicated, I was only a 5 years away from payoff so they made a bunch of money off me and have the house to boot!!

Otis Wag

I owned my home with Citi for 9 years. Hit a rough patch and attempted to "modify loan" they always lost paperwork I sent, asked for non exsistant paperwork, and always had an excuse to not modify.

They even locked my house down before it was legal within courts. HUD wanted my house the whole 2 years I fought with Citi. After 9 years and asking for modification I didn't feel was asking for a lot but they did nothing, their only goal was to put my and my children out....that was only house my kids knew.

:cry So long story short I am in! These government bail out mortgage holders need to be taught a lesson.

Irina Tyk

I am in if its still going on - they started the refinance process charged me $ and then started loosing my papers, asking for papers that cannot be produced, and in general let me know that they really do not have time for me due to a big number of accounts they are handling. I am so IN!

TRYING TO GET A MODIFICATION--OVER SIX MONTHS NOW

MONTHS AGO AFTER COMPLAINIING OF CitiBank treatment when we tried to get a loan modification they immeditately contacted me and put us in a new program. It has been over six months and nothing but a futile run around of requesting documents again and again--as if they don't have a list of the documents they will need right at the beginning. I was told at the beginning that nothing would change with our payment until the modification process was complete. Not we've received two foreclosure notices. The woman I've been working with, though trying to be nice through all of this, seems to have no more clue what's happening than we do. And all of this after they claimed a date was on our original loan papers that isn't there and even says 'non-applicable' in that column. This is insane!!! No real business should be allowed to play the games Citi is playing with people. I'm out of options--I guess I'll have to spend money I don't have on an attorney to go after them. Anybody been through this and had a decent outcome?

Citi is horrible, they are a bunch of heartless c-ocks-uckers who have done a lot of people wrong.

Guest

We fought with Citi for 3 years, got nothing out of it but the run around. They set up a fake call center and the people change weekly as to who you are "assigned to".

We finally gave up, filled for bankruptcy, then waited for them to foreclose. They still didn't. We did a short sale. I read of a law suit filled in southern california.

Don't waste your money on "negotiators" or companies that promise to do the modification for you, they won't be able to either. WE lost 3,200 that way only to find out the company was a fraud all along.

I really wish someone would get thru to the government about Citi, to date not one person has been able to. There is also a FB page for why there should be a class action against them, but they have nothing posted since 2011.

Modification scam

The same thing Bank of America is being investigated for--modification fraud--happened to us at CitiBank. We applied for a modification after they doubled our payment--all in good faith. Our agent lowered her voice so we could hardly hear her and wouldn't speak up, or her phone was set to deliberately make it difficult to hear. She asked for papers then claimed she never got them but found them, mysteriously, on her desk. She gave us the wrong fax number and didn't tell us we needed to have loan number and name on each sheet. We sent papers three times and she claimed never to have gotten them. We then offered to FEdEX them to her but got the denial letter--threatening to turn us over to Equifax if we did not send the doubled payments--before she even got the papers. We were given 3 different extension numbers for her and she never returned our calls. Either this agent is incredibly incompetent, or she was playing a company taught game--as at Bank of America. I'm following up--since I have tapes of our conversations--with Senator Elizabeth Warren, of the Banking Committee, and intend, as a journalist, to write articles for newspapers and magazines. Please, if you've been treated this way by CitiBank--while they take taxpayer money to handle these loans, write newspaper, your congressman, Elizabeth Warren. They will be stopped eventually but only if we stand up to them.

Citi took appraisal fee with no intention to refi

Updated by user Sep 21, 2013

received response from Citi justifying their actions with copies to regulating authorities. I responded to that describing where and why they were wrong with copies to banking authorities.

I'm not giving up on this. They are ripping off the public!

Original review Aug 21, 2013
Was approached with Citi mailer encouraging me to refi (after 6 yrs with them) at lower rate and $500 off closing costs. I NEVER APPROACHED THEM. After laying out $475. for appraisal and months of supplying paperwork they informed me that property did not qualify. I contend they should have known from the start that it didn't qualify since they held the original mtge for 6 yrs.. Could have saved the money. Now they are stone walling me. Several calls and emails up 3 levels of management with no response leads me to believe they knew full well what they were doing and that it was deceptive. The excuse that the money went to the appraiser is no excuse. They should have done some homework before asking for appraisal money. They can't begin to spell "customer service".

Same exact thing happened to us. Only difference is that we are fighting for a refund of $360.

We also contend that we should receive a refund since they approached us and no loan provisions changed from the mortgage we have had with them for 2 years. Did you know they are BBB approved?

If you haven't filed a complaint with them yet please do. I can't stand the fact that they are endorsed by the BBB with this type of business practice!

Citi drove me to chapter 13 to save my home & i had good credit

Citi abused HAMP and their remodification process is a scam. All "verified transactions" from my end were never received. I sent all required documentation in a timely manner in order to verify receipts of doc's and was told to send additional docs and resend verified transmitals repeatedly. I ended up filing chapter 13 to save my home of 20 years inspite of good credit. It was a year of pure ***. I managed to meet their demands from a hospital bed at times, which took great effort. Citi was relentless in their demands of documentation they already had. I was bounced around from underwriter to underwriter and I eventually lost count. They have stolen $16,000 of my equity, I incurred $10,000+ in atty fees when I knew they had no interest in remodifying. I'm sure a few years off of my life as well. First time I voted I ran to the polls to vote for tort reform. I saw the corruption and knew our country would eventually suffer in the coming years. After this experience............ and the first time of even thinking about class action, I am in. This machine Citi has created is far more than corrupt and WE literally pay the consequences of their overlending in the last decade (+). I AM DISGUSTED.

I'm going through the same thing with Citi. I've been at this for 6 months now.

I've sent my 2013 personal and business tax returns to them 4 times now. I sent in the application originally; then they called me and took one over the phone while I was at work and didn't have access to any records; then they called me and told me to fill out another one.

I'm receiving threatening letters of foreclosure that my Customer Relations Manager keeps telling me to ignore. I'm wiped out.

Not to worry this will BE DIL

Citimortgage suggested DIL. Then created a lost mortgage( no release from title company) from twenty years ago on a bank that went out of business. Denied DIL and Sold house in foreclosure for 2/3rds appraised value which they purchased. Lost all equity, upside down and they would not refinance. I don't care about the house as I am trying to get remarried an move on with my life. But now may be on the hook for balance and or taxes. This has gone on for over a year. They have done everything to mislead, I have had 10 mortgage support specialist over the last year an none did anything to help. Negotiator was a joke!

American Airlines Citi Cards

Citi advertises their American Airlines credit cards as a way to improve service when flying on American Airlines (earlier boarding, free bags), but this is untrue. I flew on AA two weeks ago, and although I have two American Airlines Citi cards, I had to pay for my bags and wasn't allowed to board until the last group. They're interest rate is incredibly high (around 29%) and they are not willing to work with their customers to lower that rate. I have been a loyal customer who consistently uses the cards, and who is extremely disappointed with their customer service.

Monica

I had a terrible experience with Citi mortgage. I started refinancing with Citi in Oct.2012 with good interest rate and gave them all the paperwork they needed with in 2 days of their GFE. They pre approved us and order an appraisal which cost me $850. Appraisal came through and their was a long pause for almost 3 months. In the mean time I was keep asking me the status of our loan and few times they answered it is almost done. The person I started the loan application Melissa Laroach and Loan officer Monica Day.Worst people in the world never answered my emails or answer my phone. In Mid Jan. 2013 they told me my DTI is higher and we have to show more income. Since in 2012 I worked more and had increased pay I asked my employer to give me my W2 early so I can show them. As I mentioned they pre approved us stating that they need 38%DTI. Now they switch it to 31% DTI. I gave them all our current W2 etc. stating the higher income and now our DTI was good to go.There was no problem .When I called Citibank there was one agent told us our loan has been approved and now it is ready to close.Monica day is preparing your closing papers. After one week Melissa called us and told the underwriter want our 2012 Tax return. What???? I told them we haven't filed our tax return since we don't have all the statements from our mortgage company, bank etc.How come we can file.In the mean time they were keep asking lot of documents.I am very organized person so was keep sending the documents with in an hour of their asking. They were taking their sweet time and purposely delayed our loan by not replying to us. Our rate was supposed to expire on Feb.4 2013.Luckily I have filed my tax returns on Jan 25. and told them about it.Now since they knew they have no argument they came up with new thing that we have to pay $200 each day until loan close .What the now they want to extract money from us . Monica day refuses to forward our tax documents until we sign the consent to pay $200 everyday. That was just too much because it took them 4 months to reach to the point where they are still waiting to approve us by underwriter. It was not a matter of 1-2 days,it could take another month since underwriter still need to review our tax returns and if she approve us then lot of days for closing. By this time I had enough of their demands and their most incompetent service. Now I wanted my money back which I paid for appraisal$850.But sure enough nobody answer to my calls, their main no. they are saying we can email to our supervisor who will call you. Sure enough haven't heard from them. I wasted 4 months with them now the interest rates are high. We wasted our time and money with Citi. I hate them and those 2 person and really wish bad for them.DON"T DON"T DON"T go with Citi mortgage.

Foreclosed on

foreclosed on because between the lawyers and citimorgage i couldnt get a reasonable answer. right now i have a house full of appliances, a barn, attic, and four bedrooms to clean before i am forced to vacate. I have proof money availability since jan. but i was being charged outrageous fees to postpone sale. I always had the money to be reinstated but citimorgage was never available to talk. I cant find even one lawyer in my area to help me get a hardship eviction. Im even ready to pay rent but i need more time. I also got up too many scams... my fault i know. citimorgage needs service reps the can serve you not just tranfer you. I am middle america who lost my home to inhumane treatment and i feel citi did not want to work with me because i have a hud loan. the loan is insured and they dont loss money the gov. insures that. I ONLY loss my house.

Lack of Disclosure

As a bank that talks about innovation and encourages its clients to use on-line statements, the AUDACITY that they would withhold the excessive interest charged from their on-line so-called Checking Plus Account "Details and Activity" is nothing less than CRIMINAL. They are simply taking advantage of their intelligent yet busy clientele. With the army of developers at their disposal, they can't figure out a way to display the current interest rate and insert an entry showing the interest incurred each month??!??!?!? Again, this is CRIMINAL, and I welcome any feedback on how this could be treated as such.
